Access changes are consequential
Membership lifecycle controls govern a person’s access to the current workspace. They are distinct from deleting an entire account, deleting a business or rewriting historical operational records.
Use the team controls available to an authorized administrator. Review the target member and impact before submitting a change.
Review and change membership
- Open Team and select the intended member in the current workspace.
- Review the current membership state and the available lifecycle actions.
- Choose the appropriate suspension, deactivation, removal or restoration action. Provide a clear reason where required.
- Review the result in the member list and team audit activity.
- If a permanent directory deletion is offered, review its impact and explicit confirmation separately before proceeding.
Start by finding the intended member and reviewing their current status. Available lifecycle actions depend on that member’s state and your authority.
Account details and configuration values are hidden.Transfer ownership deliberately
Transfer ownership before changing an owner’s lifecycle. The selected eligible teammate must accept an ownership transfer within the time shown by the product; requesting a transfer alone does not complete it.
Review both the request and acceptance outcome. Do not assume that changing a workspace role is equivalent to a completed ownership transfer.
Understand the guardrails
- You cannot change your own membership lifecycle through these controls.
- Only transitions available for the member’s current state are permitted.
- Directory removal or permanent deletion must not be treated as a way to erase historical business activity.
If an action is blocked
Check the current state, ownership and required reason or confirmation. If another administrator changed the record, refresh and review the latest state before trying again.
For a pending ownership transfer, ask the intended recipient to review the request. Never remove the owner to work around a transfer that has not completed.
